“So many suffer so much while so few sacrifice so little.” And again: “Let my heart be broken with the things that break the heart of God.” So wrote Bob Pierce, founder of World Vision (1950) and Samaritan’s Purse (1970). Many centuries earlier Isaiah prophesied that “people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned” (Isaiah 9:1,2; quoted by Matthew about Jesus (Matthew 4:16).
”Jesus began his ministry “proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.…News about him spread…and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them.”
